Amazon workers at a UK warehouse are striking on one of the retailer's busiest days, Black Friday. AdvertisementSome Amazon workers in the UK have gone on strike this Black Friday in what a union called the largest day of industrial disruption in the company's 30-year history. The online retail giant also faces action and protests in the US, France, Germany and dozens of other countries as part of a day of action called "Make Amazon Pay." The union will also hold a demonstration in support of the striking workers outside Amazon's UK headquarters in London. Gearing said Friday's strikes would be "the largest day of industrial disruption in Amazon's 30-year history."

However, Britain's health ministry said annual vaccination programmes for older and at-risk groups would start a few weeks earlier than planned in light of the variant. It is not currently categorised as a "variant of concern" in Britain, and the health ministry said there was no change to wider public health advice. "As with all emergent and circulating COVID-19 variants ... we will continue to monitor BA.2.86 and to advise government and the public as we learn more."

Barnaby Webber and Grace Kumar, both 19-year-old students at the University of Nottingham, and Ian Coates, 65, a school janitor, were fatally stabbed. Coates was later found dead from knife injuries on Magdala Road by a member of the public, police said. CNN —Three people were found dead in the central English city of Nottingham on Tuesday, in what police described as a major incident. Police were first alerted to an incident on Ilkeston Road near the city center early Tuesday local time, where two people were found dead. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”Authorities reacted to the “horrific and tragic” incident on Tuesday. “This is an horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people,” said Chief Constable Kate Meynell. First-quarter results from Netflix on Tuesday were a decidedly mixed bag. But Netflix added only 1.75 million new paid subscribers during the quarter, which was 20% below what analysts had expected. It said subscriber growth in the second quarter would be roughly similar to what it just reported—less than half the 4.1 million net new subscribers analysts were expecting for the period.

More than 2,600 ambulance workers in Wales and the West Midlands, North West, North East and East Midlands of England are already set to walk out on Monday as part of an ongoing dispute over pay and staffing. The strikes are the first of possibly several walkouts by National Health Service (NHS) nurses, which come after the government refused to meet demands for pay rises of 5% above inflation. He said the NHS had plans in place to minimise any disruption from the strikes and ensure continuity for emergency services. "Why on Earth is the Health Secretary refusing to negotiate with nurses?"
